Dan Air London Logo

Founded 1953

Dan-Air was a UK based airline which was started by Davies and Newton shortened to DAN.

Originally flying charter flights from Southend Airport using various Piston aircraft they expanded to scheduled service and jet aircraft in the 1960's.  At this time they moved their base to Gatwick Airport.

Renown for buying older aircraft to keep down costs the airline flew many aircraft from the Douglas DC3 to the de Havilland Comet 4 and more "modern" Boeing 727 and 737 aircraft.

Eventually the airline became uncompetitive and was finally sold to British Airways for £1 in 1992.

British Caledonian Logo

Founded 1970

British Caledonian Airways was a UK airline based out of Gatwick., its origins come from the take over by Caledonian Airways of British United Airways to form the largest British independent airline.

BCal as it was known would have several fights with BOAC and the British Government in trying to secure right to routes especially to Hong Kong.

BCal was also interested in Concorde and were due to be and early adopter of the Airbus A320 as a launch customer.  With the A320 deliveries due in 1988 British Caledonian were finally taken into the British Airways family and the A320's were delivered to British airways instead.

As a special, we have included a British Caledonian liveried Concorde with routes to New York, this never happened and all our other routes are per time table but we hoped it would add a little extra enjoyment to our schedules.
